I was so excited to be in Australia because there are tons of beaches but the first things I saw were kangaroos. When we went to Port Douglas, I learned that there were lots of dangers at the beach like hot sand, stingers, and crocodiles. It was much safer to swim in the pool in Cairns. I had been waiting for the whole trip to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef. We went on the Ocean Spirit to the reef where we saw loads of colourful fish and amazingly beautiful coral. When we walked through the rainforest at Kuranda, I almost got strangled by a vine! We looked for platypuses from a bridge and cassowaries on a beach. We stayed at an incredible place called the Creole Castle where I got to help feed the animals and swim inside the house. We swam at the Mission Beach resort and I saw a beach covered with little balls made by little crabs.

At Airlie Beach we went for a boat cruise on the Mantaray to visit Whitehaven Beach which is the most beautiful white beach in the world. We had another chance to go snorkeling which was fantastic. We stayed in a really great hostel in Hervey Bay with a wonderful pool. We took a ferry to Fraser Island which is the largest sand island in the world. We saw lots of rainforest, swam in Lake Mackenzie which is a perched lake with the cleanest water, visited a shipwreck called the Maheno, and floated down the Eli Creek. Our bus got stuck going around the coffee rocks but it got pulled out. I saw bananas, sugar cane, and a giant python by the side of the road. I really scared Mom with my driving. Brisbane was a fun city to visit because they have a beach right in the middle of it. We stayed in a lovely Brisbane Airbnb with John and Liz and then we drove down to Surfers Paradise which was a fun beach where I got bowled over by the waves. I found some very interesting 'koalas' on the beach. We visited a beautiful lighthouse at Byron Bay and I got to see the biggest banana in the world in Coffs Harbour. I hope there are lots more beaches to play on in the rest of Australia.
