Searching For Tasmanian Devils

Tasmania is sooooo beautiful! I was hoping to see Tasmanian Devils in the wild when I got there. We stayed in a lovely home in Kingston near Hobart. From there we visited many little villages along the ocean like my favourite Eggs and Bacon which made me hungry. We drove to Port Arthur to see an old prison where criminals were sent all the way from England. It was a very cruel place and there was even a place where they sent boys as young as nine years old to work. I learned a lot about the olden days in Tasmania.

We went to Russell Falls which looked manmade because it was so perfect. I had fun exploring around the old palm trees. In Hobart we went to the Salamanca Market where I got some scrumptious licorice. Hobart has a large harbour with lots of boats and some statues. We went for a long drive to Wineglass Bay where I got to climb all over the rocks and hike up the steep hills to see the lovely bay which I think looks more like a saltshaker. We really enjoyed staying with Stuart and Kathleen in their quaint Kingston home. I never found any living Tasmanian Devils when we were in Tasmania. The only ones we saw were roadkill!

The Cool Coast

It was great to finally be out of the hot Outback. When we got to Adelaide, we met Natalie who was lots of fun to visit with. I discovered that I liked meat pies. I built lots of little forts on my bed at Natalie's. We went along the ocean and saw lots of lighthouses and beaches. In Ocean Grove we met Bev and George Long and their family. I wish I could have gone surfing even if the water was cold. I saw a scary sign and some seals. We took a walk through a rainforest on the Great Ocean Road.

We spent a long day driving the windy Great Ocean Road. We saw koalas in trees right beside the road. I saw the Twelve Apostles (there are only nine rocks left), Loch Ard Gorge, and London Bridge. In Melbourne we had a great view from our YHA rooftop. We went to the Victoria Market and saw lots of interesting things to buy. I took a tram ride and saw the Flinders Street Station. I love Australian stuffies and would like to take a whole bunch home. Can you find me doing my schoolwork at the hostel?
