Rome, Rome on the Range

Rome is an amazing city and we saw many famous things. The best part about visiting St. Peter's was climbing all the stairs to the top. At the Vatican Museum I took lots of pictures and tried to see the Pope through a keyhole. There are lots of fountains and I put my hand into the Mouth of Truth. It is said that if a liar put his hand into the mouth, it would be bitten off. My hand survived. The Colosseo had lots of stones to climb on and I enjoyed wandering through the Forum with all of its ruins. On my friend Helen's birthday I celebrated by eating at McDonald's. I also bought her a Christmas present at a Roman Glass Shop.

Uncle Brian bought me The Fellowship of the Ring book for Christmas. I met Pope John Paul II at the Termini train station near our home. I saw a really neat Christmas tree at IKEA. The subway has tons of trains with graffiti. We had a hailstorm that reminded me of home where everybody is enjoying the snow and cranking up the heat. I love the food in Rome especially the candy and the pizza.

Tuscan Friends

I had so much fun making new friends in Tuscany. We stayed in a wonderful place in Tavernelle and I met Cesare and Adelasia who became my friends. We did lots of fun things together like harvesting olives and pulling a cart. We visited many interesting places like Siena where I saw the Fountain of Joy and the 'zebra' Siena Cathedral. San Gimignano had tons of towers and funny shops like the one with a boar wearing glasses and a giant pumpkin. We found 'Opa' in the Duomo in Florence and visited a leather school where we got to watch them make leather purses and bags. I also saw a boar statue in the market and a beautiful bridge in Florence. Most evenings we played cards in our cozy home in Tavernelle. I am going to miss my new Italian friends and our incredible 'home' in Tavernelle.
